Today for Catholic Schools Week, our St. Benilde Students joined together for school-wide Praise and Worship. It was so beautiful seeing all of our students join together singing and praising our Lord. A big thank you to 2nd Grade Teacher Ms. Naquin for leading us in song.
Happy “Nice to Meet You Monday!” Today, we meet Ms. Madeline Soler, our amazing 4th Grade Teacher. When we asked Ms. Soler what her favorite thing about teaching was, she responded, “I love when I see the lightbulb of understanding turn on when students make connections and I love making a positive difference in their lives.” We are so blessed to have you as part of our SBS Family, Ms. Soler!
Congratulations to our SBS Spelling Bee Participants. The top two spellers from 4th-7th grade will be given the opportunity to compete in the New Orleans #SpellingBee on March 18th at @dillarduniversity. Great job to all of our #Spelling #Scholars! We are so #proud of you!
The St. Benilde Men's Club Annual Chili Cook Off Trifecta is right around the corner! Saturday, January 28. Gates open at noon. $10 a person for all you can eat chili. Kids 10 and under are free and we will have inflatables!
Congratulations to 6th grader, Emma D., who was crowned champion of the Knights of Columbus (Chapter 3465) Free Throw Contest for all 12 year old girls. Emma will be moving on to compete against other 12 year olds from the Archdiocese of New Orleans at the Regional Championship.
Last week in ELA, our 7th graders read "An American Childhood," a story about a young girl's love for exploring the world around her through the lens of a microscope. Our students were able to experience this sense of wonder for themselves firsthand by going into the science lab and witnessing the magic of microscopes.
Today, we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as a national day of service, a chance to empower individuals, strengthen communities and bridge barriers.
We want to give a big THANK YOU to our wonderful St. Benilde Community. Together with your help, our Student Council was able to collect 53 coats to donate to children in need. A special shout out to 6th grader Sophia P. for bringing this idea to our student council and helping it come to fruition! #IRISHpride
At St. Benilde, we are always looking for ways to celebrate our students and their positive behaviors. Three of our fourth graders celebrated today by having cookies with Auri. #EducationallyExcellent #ChristCentered #FutureFocused
Congratulations to our Senior Girl's Basketball Team for an incredible season! Our girls earned their way to the playoffs and represented our St. Benilde Irish Pride. We played our best and had a great season. Great Job and Go Irish!
Today the Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord. "The Lord and ruler is coming; kingship is his, and government and power." With these words the Church proclaims that today's feast brings to a perfect fulfillment all the purposes of Advent. Epiphany, therefore, marks the liturgical zenith of the Advent-Christmas season.
On January 2nd, our teachers had the opportunity to recharge and reflect at our annual faculty retreat. Faculty and staff were joined by Fr. Michael Luxbacher, who spoke to our teachers about faith, hope, and our school theme, "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord our God will be with you wherever you go." -Joshua 1:9 #ChristCentered
